  • Festival & National Holidays: 30 days services within a continuous period of 90 days immediately preceding such festival holiday

  • 26th January (Republic Day)
  • 1st May (May Day)
  • 15th August (Independence Day)
  • 2nd October (Gandhi Jayanti)
Festival Holidays 4 Notified by the Govt. or by such other authority
Total Number of National & Festival Holidays in a year 8
Provision if worked on NH/FH If an employee works on any holiday, he shall at his option be entitled to:
  • Twice the wages
  • Wages for such holiday and to avail himself of a substituted holiday with wages on one of the three days immediately before or after the day on which he so works
Time Limit to Avail Compensatory Off Within ninety days from the day on which the employee so worked
Notice to Labour Inspector Notice must be sent to the Labour Inspector in case an employee is made to work on a holiday
Forms to be maintained Form II
Penal Consequences Punishable with fine which for first offence may extend to Rs. 150/- and for a second and subsequent offence may extend to Rs. 750/- – Section 9
